Web Developer.

Hey there! My name is Matt. I'm passionate about web and software development. I graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science With Specialization in Computing Science With Distinction in April 2019. Below are some samples of the work I've done. I have experience in a broad range of subjects. During my time in post-secondary, I took classes in robotics, 3D graphics, computer organization and architechure, non-procedural programming languages, parallel programming, compilers, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. In addition to my course work, I also have taught myself other technologies on the side. These include web design componnets such as HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, Node.js, React, and Vue, to name a few. Below are just a few samples of the work I have done.

Alberta Covid Data

This app shows the various charts for Alberta related to the COVID-19 pandemic. I stared this project because I wanted a way to view the historical trends of the case numbers, and not just the latest numbers.

This app locates the 10 nearest AEDs using the user's GPS location. Work in progress.

Here is a quick project I put together using Edmonton's Open Data API. It shows all current and upcoming construction in the City of Edmonton. The different cards can be sorted by current or upcoming, and for each one, a map of the area can easily be viewed.

Roommates App

In January 2019, I participated in a hackathon. I made a simple app with Bootstrap/Node.js/express that helps organize and share information between roommates like chores, groceries, and rent. It isn't completely finished, but you can click the link to see what I have so far.

Robotics Class

Here is the final report from my CS 3120 robotics class at Grande Prairie Regional College. The robot had to perform a number of different tasks, incuding line following, maze navigation, and targetting.

A simple representation I coded of the stratego board game. The computer plays itself at random, though it is smart enough not to make some moves, such as stepping on bombs it knows about.

Speed Data

Another simple app featuring data from Edmonton's Open Data portal. This shows a tabled view of some information from Edmonton's Driver Feedback Signs, specifically, it the dates, and times, and number of vehicles going 30 over the limit for each DFS

This is an assignment for one of my classes. You can drive a 3D car around in an environment, collide with objects, and change the camera angle.

Recently, I made a Twitter bot that tweet's the status of Edmonton's 50 St train with data pulled from IsThereATrain.com's website.
